Secret Sky
How the experience unfolds, from the message with the coordinates to the night under the stars.
The journey begins before you even set off, as you wait for a message. Only a few hours before the event will you receive the coordinates of the first meeting point, along with directions to get there. That is where we set off together: the final destination remains part of the surprise.
Secret Sky takes place away from Carolina Ranch, and the setting changes with every event. It may even take us beyond Sant’Antioco, to places chosen for their landscape, the stories they hold and the opportunities they offer for observing the sky.
At the meeting point we are welcomed by Lisa Mura, a tour guide with Aguadora Experience. With her we set off on foot, guided by anecdotes, ancient traditions, customs and myths. Each story adds a clue to the journey and helps us see the land we cross through different eyes.
Step by step, we walk towards the night. At the spot chosen for observation, astrophysicist Manuel Floris, scientific director of the L’Unione Sarda Planetarium in Cagliari, is waiting for us. With him our gaze turns upwards: from the stories of the earth we move on to the wonders of the Universe.
In the silence, far from artificial light, the astronomical laser helps us recognise the constellations and find our bearings. Through professional telescopes we observe the celestial objects visible that evening, with stories and explanations that make the discovery accessible even to those taking their first steps in astronomy.
There are never more than 30 of us sharing the experience. A small group, the allure of a place waiting to be discovered, and time to pause, listen and ask questions under the sky.
During the evening there will also be time to have dinner together, immersed in the atmosphere of the place chosen for our stop. Dinner is a packed meal: each participant brings their own food from home, to be eaten at the spot we choose for dinner. A simple, convivial moment to share with your companions on this adventure.
The coordinates are only the beginning. The rest is discovered by living the night.
Good to know before you go
- Maximum 30 participants per event.
- The coordinates of the meeting point arrive a few hours before the event.
- Packed dinner: everyone brings their own meal, to be eaten together at the spot chosen for our stop.
- The experience is open to participants aged 10+ and may involve travelling between locations by your own means and walking in the dark on dirt or uneven paths. Duration, difficulty, equipment and included services are specified for each event.
- The talks and explanations are given in Italian: you need to understand the language to fully appreciate the stories and explanations.
