About the horseback ride: along the Santa Barbara Mining Trail

Immerse yourself in the thousands of years of history and the natural beauty of the island of Sant'Antioco on our exclusive horseback ride along the clifftops of Is Praneddas, home to the striking cove of the “Arco dei Baci” (the Kissing Arch) and its natural pool.

You will ride a stretch of the bridle path of the Santa Barbara Mining Trail, a unique journey through fascinating places between sea, hills and ancient archaeological sites.

Before setting off from Carolina Ranch, which lies right on the official route of the bridle path and a stone’s throw from the Arco dei Baci, we will do a practice lap with our experienced guides. Once you feel at ease with your horse, we will head for one of the most unspoilt stretches of coastline on the island, see the cave of Su Portu e Su Trigu, follow the trail to the Arco dei Baci and the Is Praneddas totem, then climb back up the headland to the Ranch.

The ride winds along a coastal trail with breathtaking views over the crystal-clear sea of the west coast, full of unique scents and colours and spectacular scenery, where you can take in the sea, the sun and unspoilt nature in all their grandeur, with unforgettable sunsets and views.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, our ride is designed to be safe and accessible, with horses trained to walk for your comfort and safety.

About the quad tour: rules and conditions

What the activity involves:

• Experience for 2 people, driver and passenger.
• Briefing, paperwork, handover of safety gear and a first practice run for drivers inside the Ranch to get used to the quad. We then set off from the Ranch to discover a series of places, including some of the most scenic spots on the south-east coast: we will take in the beach of S’Acqua e Sa Canna and see Torre Canai and its bay from an unusual angle, then head inland through the archaeological site of Corongiu Murvonis up to the headland overlooking the bay of Cala Lunga, where the views, sunsets and landscapes are simply unforgettable. Finally we make our way back to the Ranch via the beach of Cala Sapone.

• Our tours are designed to reveal the island’s most hidden and hard-to-reach corners, so routes are mixed and sometimes follow trails, dirt tracks and local and provincial roads, always with full respect for the environment and current regulations; for this reason no off-roading is allowed.
